Pumpkins Preparing

Hey space turtles! The next Glam Nails Challenge prompt for October is 'scary pumpkins'. Similarly to the cat nail art from my last post I didn't want to go too crazy with the Halloween themes yet so kept it a bit more subtle and autumnal. My idea was to include a pumpkin patch where the pumpkins were just starting to get their Halloween faces on. You'll see below some are further on than others!

I started with base coat and a couple of coats or green. Once dry I added leaf outlines in white from Mo You London's Fall In Love 05 stamping plate. I followed up with other colours over the top and then the detailing in black. While I was doing this some decals I had prepared on my Uber Mat earlier were drying. The pumpkins without faces are from the same stamping plate, and the other two are from Mo You London's Halloween 09 and 13 stamping plates. I finished the look with a glossy topcoat.

Super pleased with these although I think my pictures could have been better. I'm enjoying the colours, the glitter, the autumn feel and the smiling pumpkin!

The Jack-O-Lantern's Are Back!

Hey nail people! More Halloween Glam Nails Challenge nails tonight - this time the theme is Jack-O-Lanterns. I decided to sort of recreate a look I really enjoyed from absolutely ages ago. I remember it was in the year I started working at my current workplace and I've been there for a long time! I did change it up a bit in terms of which nails have which patterns and used different polish plus I have longer nails - so they are a bit different.

I started with a base of black on two nails and linear holographic orange on the others. For the white spots I used a dotting tool, I tried to keep them fairly uniform but the little finger came out a lot better than the index finger. On the other nails I used a small nail art brush to add the spooky pumpkin faces. I think they're definitely neater than last time and the sizing worked quote well which I suppose is an advantage of freehand (I wasn't sure how well it would work on long nails). I Googled Jack-O-Lanterns and took inspiration from whichever ones looked easiest to do! I've included a picture of the original nail art at the bottom of this post.

Halloween Nails - It's Pumpkin Time!

Hi everyone and happy Halloween nearly a month early! I usually only do a couple of Halloween looks, and a lot closer to Halloween, but this year I'm doing the Glam Nails Challenge on Instagram, I love the prompts for this month. The first prompt is pumpkins as you may have guessed from the title. I was super excited for my latest order from Rainbow Connection to turn up just before I did these, as I wanted to use this beautiful orange Halloween shade from UberChic - which is wonderfully called If You've Got It Haunt It!

For this look I used one of my new stamping plates from Mo You London, Halloween 13. The bats were stamped onto my nail directly and for the pumpkins I used the advanced stamping technique, you can see how here. I was so pleased with how well the orange showed up over purple. This orange shade was truly delightful, it was so smooth and opaque and has a gorgeous holographic flare in the right light! I love purple and orange as a Halloween combination, it's probably not something I'd do at any other time of year!
