Sparkling Lemons

Hi everyone, happy Saturday! I'm so very glad it's the weekend and wishing we had another bank holiday! So the sun is shining here in the UK so it's a good day for fruity lemon nails. I particularly like lemons for summer nail art, and blue is my favourite colour to pair them with, I like the contrast.

For these nails I started with a base colour of off white (colours listed below the pictures) , and then painted a couple of layers of sheer-ish blue over three nails on each hand. The white makes the colour stronger, and with it being slightly sheer adds some depth. For the lemons I created decals on my Uber Mat. I used a nail art pen to draw the lemons and leaves, and then coloured them in using a dotting tool. For the leaves I used a sheer green over silver. The yellow is from Cupcake Polish's sweets collection, and is absolutely wonderful! It's super sparkly, I've got a red from the collection to try still and am struggling to resist buying more of them!

I like this nail art, particularly the blue and yellow polishes, but I don't think the lemons were as good as they could have been. Oddly I've done better lemons as freehand, which is unusual for me! You can see them here. If you've not quite had your fix of lemons and nails today, you can also see some more lemon nails here!

Shimmering Leaves

Hi nail world! Tonight I'm showing you a design I love, using one of my all time favourite nail polishes, a new (to me) indie polish and one of my beloved Mo You stamping plates. The colour on the left here is Baker Street from Nails Inc, and I am on  my second bottle! This is the first colour I got from Nails Inc some years ago, and I still adore it. I ended up getting a back up as part of a multi buy set in a sale, and it's a good job I did! It's such a lovely colour and paints on really nicely.

I used my Mo You Tropical Plate Collection 06 plate for the leaf pattern, and stamped it onto my Uber Chic mat. Once dry I used a dotting too to fill in all the leaves with a gorgeous silvery white shimmer from A England, Morgan Le Fay. I haven't used the colour alone yet, or over a plain colour, but look forward to trying it eventually! After painting some more clear polish onto the images and letting them dry I peeled them off and placed them on my nails.

I used scissors and a clean up brush to clean round the edges, added my favourite top coat (Nails Inc's Kensington Caviar) et voilĂ ! I really like the simplicity of this design and think it makes a sophisticated looking mani (if I do say so myself!). What do you think?
