Ho Ho How About Some Nail Art

Hi Space turtles! My first proper Christmas nail art of the year is here! I decided I'd try and combine the first two Glam Nails Challenge (Instagram nail art challenge) prompts for this look. The prompts were Santa and Christmas Plaid.

For the Santa nails I made decals on my Uber mat using images from Mo You London's Noel 01 stamping plate. For the other nails I used Mo You London's Holy Shapes 19 stamping plate which has a range of different lines and patterned lines you can put together to create tartan looks. I went for a classic green and red colour scheme to feel Christmassy! I'm pleased with the look and think it's a good start to my Christmas looks for the year.

Sutherland Tartan Nail Art

Hi everyone! Today I'm wearing tartan nail art and I rather like it! I meant to do this design for my trip to Edinburgh in February but ran out of time so gave it a try now. I really like the way it turned out. Our trip to Scotland was primarily to visit some of the places where the Outlander TV series was filmed, as me and the girls I went with are big fans of the books and TV series. So I was thinking about doing Fraser tartan, but then I thought as I have a Scottish clan surname myself I'd give that a try! So this tartan is based loosely on Sutherland Tartan.

I started with a base of muted green (colours listed below the pictures). For the blue lines I mixed some coloured polish with clear polish on my Uber Mat. I used a flat nail art brush to dab it onto my nails in thick lines. Once dry I used a striping brush to paint some thin white lines, and then gold lines on each nail. I used a copper, gold and black glitter as an accent nail. I have had this nail art on for four days now and I expect I might even keep it for the weekend, the only downside being that I don't have anything else to put on the blog!

Throwback Thursday: New Year Tartan

Today's throwback is the nail art I did for last years new year celebrations. It brings back fond memories! One of which was using a giant chocolate box to lean on while I tried this lovely (and new at the time) OPI red. I copied this design from a few I've seen floating around on Instragram and Pinterest, again as it's an older one I wouldn't have the foggiest who to credit it to!

I used a small nail art brush to draw the lines across my nail in black, and filled in the lines (avoiding the squares where they overlap) with a burgundy shade. I then added two thinner lines in gold. Was fairly simple to do and I'd definitely give it another go. It feels quite Christmassy to me but as it's not explicitly Christmas themed I think it would work for either of the autumn and winter seasons.
