Harry Potter and the Chamber of Nail Art!

Hi everyone, hope you've had a good week! Today I am sharing some Harry Potter nail art, using a stamping plate I bought absolutely ages ago (the Christmas before last I think)! I have a substantial pile of untried stamping plates I'm working my way through at the moment. I also used an untried polish from ILNP, much more recently purchased, the gorgeous Madeline. It came out a bit darker than I expected although it is SO gorgeously sparkly in the sun and under bright lights.

I painted two nails on each hand white and the rest with Madeline, the white ones were to have the nail art on but I did add a snitch and lightning scar on my ring fingernails too as there were too many cute images on that plate! The plate used was M11 by Loja BBF which I purchased from Nail Artisan (UK). With the glasses image there is a little scar as well which I did in gold, but it was pretty small and you can only see it in some of the pictures. I did keep going to wipe it off my nails as I thought it was a bit of fluff or something! Some of the below pictures have a matte top coat on the white nails, and some don't, I think I preferred the matte topcoat for this look. Overall I'm pleased with it, easy to do and I enjoyed the final look.

Happy New Year 2018!

Happy New Year! Today's nail art is of course my new years eve nail art for 2017-18. I wanted to go for something glittery and new year themed, but also Harry Potter themed as we went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child yesterday. They came out suitably new year themed and sparkly but not very Harry Potter. The deathly hallows symbol didn't quite turn out as planned. I think it all looks a bit Dr Who!

For the galaxy nails I used tiny pieces of sponge held by tweezers to sponge on some glitter and shimmer, and then a dotting tool for the white stars. For the middle finger I put a holo topper over black, and made a decal for the symbol. I painted clear polish onto my Uber Mat, painted the image over the top, added another clear layer, and then peeled of to stick on my nails once dry. I did the same for the 2018 nails. For the sparkly nails I used holo powder from Twinkled T. I tried glitter burnishing but wasn't entirely successful so dipped instead and was pleased with the result.

On the thumb I used an image from the Mo You London Festive 05 stamping plate, and then a small brush to fill the glasses. I would have gone for a champagne colour but I didn't think it would show up well against the silver glitter so I went for red wine instead.

2017 has been a great year for me, although maybe not so much for the world, so I hope 2018 is a much better one for the world, and the same for me! Last year I made a New Years blog resolution to improve my nail pictures, and I think I've finally done that towards the end of the year. Still some way to go though I think! This years will be to start doing a few videos, either to add to my blog or Instagram.

Throwback Thursday: Harry Potter

Todays throwback is one I'd completely forgotten about until someone sent me a link to a whole selection of Harry Potter nails. I sadly can't find the article any more but will add it in the comments if I find it. I did these for our trip to the Harry Potter studio tour, it was soo much fun!

Didn't go for anything particularly original with the design, the main part was inspired by a number of designs on Google images, and the thumb nail from some more! Apologies for the mess on these, as you can see one was taken pre-clean up!

To get the checked effect, based on the colours of the different houses at Hogwarts, I used nail art tape, and for the deathly hallows symbol I used a nail art pen. Had a bit of trouble with it coming out too thick. I think in future I'd just do it freehand as it's a fairly simple shape. That's all there is to it really. can't believe how long ago it was!
