Northern lights in Norway Nails

Hey everyone! More purple nails today. These were done for a collaboration on Instagram for which the theme was Things You Love About Winter. I adore snow but knew lots of people would choose that so chose to do a Norway theme instead, as I love going to Norway in the run up to Christmas (didn't last year for obvious reasons but hope to again in December). I was also keen to use my Noel 06 stamping plate from Mo You London again and it tied in well with this theme.

I started with a base of pale purple on some nails and dark purple on others. I then added a layer of Flakie Holo Taco on all nails, which I love but with everything else on top I'm not sure I should have done! On my index, little finger and thumb nails I layered up some snow and other images from the stamping plate in purple and white. On the middle two nails I added some silver stars and then the Northern Lights Pattern in white. Over the top of the white polish I added some pale green which doesn't show up that well but I'm fine with that as it gives enough of a hint of green to work! I then layered the deer silhouette images in silver and black.

Overall I'm rather pleased with these. I probably didn't need the flakie topper, although it does add a bit of extra sparkle, and at first I thought the deer were a bit too dark but I like it all together as a look. Fingers crossed for a trip to Norway again in December!

Norway Nail Art - Tromsø

Hey everyone! Somehow this is my first non-new year related nail art of this year! Due to work and being ill with winter bugs I had this on for two weeks and haven't had the chance to blog about it yet! I'm really pleased with this look and couldn't bring myself to take it off! (which was kind of a pain  as I had the new Fun Lacquer valentines collection to try!) I wanted to do something that captured our trip to Tromso in Norway for a long weekend in mid-December. It was a magical trip and I would highly recommend it! I did some nail art for our trip to Trondheim the previous year but it was a little more Christmassy, you can see it here. I'm enjoying the colours
of this ones as blues, greens and glitter are definitely my kind of thing!

I decided to do different things on each hand as there were a few things I wanted to do, but kept the glitter and northern lights/mountain nails consistent on each hand as they are my favourite. On my left hand I made decals using the husky image from my Mo You London Enchanted 05 plate (see how here), and used an icey image from the same plate along with the whale tail from the Sailor 18 plate. I really love the Sailor 18 plate and can see it being used a lot more! On my right hand I used the reindeer image from the Enchanted 05 plate, ripples from Sailor 18 and a ferry image from the Sailor 01 plate (this was to represent the Hurtigruten, a cruise ship we saw and liked the name of!).

On my middle fingernails I used Magical (H) from Fun Lacquer which was a Christmas present from my parents, it is absolutely gorgeous! Might have made sense to use Northern Lights from the same collection but I think Magical (H) fits perfectly. On my thumb and ring fingernails I made decals using the mountain images from the Sailor 18 plate and the stars as well. For the northern lights effect under the stars I used a small piece of sponge and dabbed on some green polish mixed with white, followed by a brighter green. I wasn't sure how well it would work but it really did I think once it was all together! The inspiration for those nails was taken from the Mo You London website.

So, I've waffled on a bit here but for me this was a great start to 2019 in terms of my nail art! I hope you like them too :)

Trondheim Inspired Christmas Nails

Hello everyone, hope you've had a lovely Christmas break! Today I'm sharing with you my nail art from the week before Christmas, inspired by our weekend break in Trondheim, Norway. I would highly recommend a Christmas trip there, it was like a magical Christmas wonderland! We were lucky that it snowed a fair bit, making it even more picturesque. There were Christmas lights everywhere and there was a rustic cosy theme at many places. We spent a fair bit of time at the Christmas market in the town square. The market stalls were adorable and it was a good size of market to have enough to look at without it being so big you'd get lost! There are pictures up on my Instagram if you'd like to see (link in the top right corner).

So for the nail art I based it on things we'd seen, lights on my index finger, snowy mountains on my middle, snow on my ring finger, trees and hills on my little finger, and Christmas jumper patterns on my thumb. I used the Uber Chic Christmas-01 plate for the lights, snowflakes and jumper pattern. For the hilly scenes I used the appropriately named Scandi 01 plate from Mo You London. I used the advanced stamping technique with my Uber Mat for those images where the colours have been filled in. You can see how here.

I was pleased with how they turned out and they bring back fond memories :)
