Tickedy Ted

Hey nail people/ space turtles! The inspiration for today's nail art is a little different... I was watching Mock the Week and the comedian James Acaster made a joke where he called Big Big 'Tickedy Ted the time telling b***h'. It rather ticked me, especially as I was reminded of it when I could see Big Ben out of the window when I was at work the next day! So I decided some more London nail art was due. It's also very fitting as I'll be in London for work tomorrow for the first time in a few weeks.

I started with a base coat and a couple of layers of deep green/black nail polish (which looks quite slate grey when matte). I then added London themed images from Mo You London's Scandi 01, 03 and 10 stamping plates with Tickedy Ted in the middle of course! Once dry I carefully added a top coat to avoid smudging the design and then added a matte top coat over the top. I have found in the past matte top coats have been quite bad for smudging nail art which is why I add another one underneath.

I'm loving the final result! Sometimes these quite simple designs can come out so well - probably because there is less that could go wrong!

Stamping Sunday: It's Raining In London

Hi all, hope you've had a lovely weekend! I am feeling very autumnal and have some weather appropriate nail art to share with you today. I wore this a week or so ago, and was heading into London for work, with a forecast for rain, so I thought this would fit. It's an idea I've had for some time based on the Scandi 01 & 03 plates from Mo You London with the Big Ben in the rain image, but I had even more options with the UberChic Forecasting Glam plate I got this year.

I started off with pale grey nail polish on two nails on each hand, and pale blue on the rest. For the cloud in the rain I used the layered stamping images, and for the Big Ben, London bus and umbrella images I created decals on my Uber Mat, you can see how here. On my middle finger and thumb nails I stamped cloud and raindrop images in white. I had to go over the clouds again on my middle finger  as they didn't come out very well. On my thumb nails I added the cuddle weather wording, which really appeals to me. Love a bit of cuddle weather once I've accepted that summer is over!

I finished off the look with a matte top coat to make the colours pop a bit better. I did end up smudging some of the wording a little as my matte top coat isn't the best. I was pleased with these overall but think the busses could have been neater, it's quite a tricky image to colour well! There is also one wonky Big Ben, I like to think it's dancing!

Stamping Sunday - Holiday Nails

Hi everyone! Today I'm bringing you my holiday nails from my week in Scotland. I have to admit I am not happy to be home, it was a great week! I used Mo You Londons Scandi 01 plate to create some holiday themed nails before I went. I liked the idea of trying to spot all the things on my nails on the holiday, but didn't quite manage to get them all! I saw sun, clouds, rain, hills (but not snow capped mountains) and castles. Sadly I saw no ferris wheels, light houses, hot air balloons or volkswagen camper vans.

I used my Uber Mat and the advanced stamping technique to create this with a variety of colours (listed below the images). You can see a picture tutorial how I did it here. I love the Scandi plates and all the options with them, I'm looking forward to using them for some similar London themed designs at some point, but I have a long long list of things to try so it might be a while!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
