Raindrops Keep Falling on my Nails

Hello nail people! I hope it's good weather where you are - it's raining on my nails! This nail art is for another Glam Nail Challenge prompt with an autumnal theme of rain. I went straight to by UberChic Forecasting Glam stamping plate for this look and decided to use a variety of iridescent shades for the raindrops. I kept most nails the same in the end as I liked the multi coloured raindrops idea so much.

I started with a base colour of dark blue on all my nails (colours listed below the pictures) and then made some decals on my Uber mat, you can see how here. I used a variety of different iridescent shimmers for the raindrops, I thought the sheer consistency of some of them would work well for magical rain. I did want to add a bit more though so decided to do an umbrella accent nail. Simplest one but I think it adds something! Overall pleased with these :) I think they're fun and I could never get bored of this gorgeous shade of blue!

Raindrops That Turned Into Spots!

Hi again! I'm back so soon as I have more nail art to enter into this weeks Holo Taco challenge. This was definitely the less successful of my two entries, but I like how it looks as nail art on it's own, just didn't really fit with the theme as much as I'd hoped! So the theme is Optical Illusions, and my intention with this one was to create the illusion of sparkly raindrops on my nails.

I started with a dark blue base, and then a matte top coat, to make the shiny raindrops stand out against it. I decided to go with round spots, more like rain on a window, rather than classic raindrop shapes, and I think this is the first part where I went wrong! The colour I used for the raindrops was way too dense, meaning they look just like silver spots rather than clear glittery droplets. I really should have tested it out on my Uber Mat first! I should have used a finer scattered glitter, this one is too linear I think. All the same I used a dotting tool to add dots of clear top coat over the spots, but unfortunately this didn't really make much difference, they're still just silver spots!

So in conclusion I do like the way these look, but they certainly didn't go as planned. Might try it again some time and approach it differently. I had a bit less time after spending so long on the turtle nail art on my other hand! I'm going to enter this into this weeks challenge anyway because why not!

Stamping Sunday: It's Raining In London

Hi all, hope you've had a lovely weekend! I am feeling very autumnal and have some weather appropriate nail art to share with you today. I wore this a week or so ago, and was heading into London for work, with a forecast for rain, so I thought this would fit. It's an idea I've had for some time based on the Scandi 01 & 03 plates from Mo You London with the Big Ben in the rain image, but I had even more options with the UberChic Forecasting Glam plate I got this year.

I started off with pale grey nail polish on two nails on each hand, and pale blue on the rest. For the cloud in the rain I used the layered stamping images, and for the Big Ben, London bus and umbrella images I created decals on my Uber Mat, you can see how here. On my middle finger and thumb nails I stamped cloud and raindrop images in white. I had to go over the clouds again on my middle finger  as they didn't come out very well. On my thumb nails I added the cuddle weather wording, which really appeals to me. Love a bit of cuddle weather once I've accepted that summer is over!

I finished off the look with a matte top coat to make the colours pop a bit better. I did end up smudging some of the wording a little as my matte top coat isn't the best. I was pleased with these overall but think the busses could have been neater, it's quite a tricky image to colour well! There is also one wonky Big Ben, I like to think it's dancing!

Taking the weather with you nail art!

Everywhere you goOo, always take the weather with you! Or the weather forecast anyway! I was super excited to get my hands on the Uber Chic Forecasting Glam stamping plate recently, and this is the first thing I did with it, a full set of accurate (at the time) weather forecast nails!

I started with a base of Cirque Colors' Luna, which is gorgeously summery but also changes colour so seemed appropriate for weather nails. For the nail art for once I actually didn't use the advanced stamping technique! The stamping plate has an image for the cloud colour as well as the outline of the clouds and the days of the week, so I was able just to stamp these directly onto my nails bit by bit. For the sunshine I coloured in with yellow nail polish and a dotting tool once the images were already on my nails. The pictures below show the full set with some of the colour variation, they were mostly blue as the weather has been warm!

Scroll all the way to the bottom for the thumb nails and something extra!
Colours used: Luna - Cirque Colors, Midnight Mischief - Painted Polish, White Stamping Polish - Emily de Molly, Yellow - Barry M

Below are some additional images from the stamping plate which I used on the thumb nails. I was really pleased with how they turned out and think the base colour was perfect! As I neared the end of the week the forecast changed a little, to predict storms for the Saturday. This was not ideal as I was off to see some outdoor theatre, however I was keen to try out the storms symbol on my nails! I did therefore re-do the Saturday nail towards the end of the week.

As you've probably gathered I am really pleased with how these turned out! Some of my most complimented nail art so far - they were a great novelty!
