Ghosts of Unusual Proportions

Happy Halloween! The nail art I'm sharing today had many nail fails in the process which I suppose is fitting for Halloween! I do like the design itself though. I am still loving the nail art I've currently got on so decided for my final Glam Nails Challenge this month I'd use false nails. This is where the first issue came in... the theme was Graveyard but you may have noticed there is no graveyard here! I had planned to do a graveyard with glowing ghosts but couldn't find my glow in the dark top coat. In the process of deciding what to do I managed to forget it was a graveyard theme and think it was ghosts, so I did the ghost theme twice!

I decided to try some fluid nail art with a few different Spot It nail polishes, but after doing it I thought it probably wouldn't work for the design I wanted to add. This was the second nail fail. I used the remaining false nails for the final look but that meant I was left with quite miss-matching sizes which didn't really fit my nails.

I started (again) with a nude base and then two layers of purple flakie polish. I then used my Uber Mat to create some decals of ghosts and a castle, and added the cloud and moon images directly onto the nails (all images from Mo You London's Halloween 17 stamping plate). Once (nearly) dry I added the decals to the nails and applied a glossy top coat. This is where the next fail came in. The decals weren't entirely dry yet and as I manoeuvred one of the ghosts it folded and stuck together so I couldn't unfold it. I actually think it's not obvious, but on one nail you're not seeing the whole ghost!

Strawberry Nails Forever...

Hey everyone - happy Friday! I had plans for this evening but they've been moved and I'm really relishing a night in as I haven't been sleeping well and am so sleepy! This nail art is another one from weeks ago as I am of course still behind. I wanted to use my untried red glitter from Cupcake Polish (colours listed below the pictures), and thought I'd give strawberry nail art a go to make sure it didn't look too Christmassy!

I used three different stamping plates for this design. For the thumbs I used an image from my Roxy Collection 10 plate from Mo You London. This is a Beatles themed plate which was one of my first MYL plates and seems to no longer be available. For my middle finger I used strawberries from the Tropical 07 plate (really lovely plate!) and on my little finger I used some more strawberries, from the Tropical 34 plate. I definitely liked the ones on the little fingers best.

To fill in the strawberry images I used the advanced stamping technique on my Uber Mat using the sparkly red polish. You can see how here. The red was super sparkly in the light but I still haven't quite mastered the art of photographing that besides in the bathroom with a tiled background.

Buzz Buzz

Buzzzzzzz.... Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing my holiday nail art from our holiday in Scotland in May. Still soo behind! I'm very sleepy at the moment so nail art is happening a little less, and blogging even less! Need to get some good naps in I think! That or I need another holiday...

This charming yellowy gold glitter is Princess Lolly from Cupcake Polish and has been on my untried list for some time. I kept it simple with a bee image from  Mo You London's Animal 04 plate, using the advanced stamping technique and my Uber Mat. You can see how here. On my thumb and little fingers nails I used a honeycomb image from Pro 01 plate. I'm glad I kept my middle finger nails as just glitter as it really is gorgeously sparkly polish so it needed to be the centre piece!

It look me a little while to get used to these as they are very yellow and I'm quite pale, but they soon grew on me and I loved the glitter and the little bees. It was a perfect theme for a sunny week in Scotland. I've included a couple of pictures at the bottom from a stunning bluebell walk in the woods towards the end of the holiday. I thought it was the perfect backdrop!

Monthly Indie Review - Cupcake Polish

Hello nail world! For this months indie polish review I have tried Cupcake Polish. This is another US brand, but I purchased them from Rainbow Connection which distributes to the UK with very reasonable postage costs. Below are the polishes in the bottles, Berry Good Looking is on the left, and Copa Girls on the right. You can see in the bottles on the right that the colours look like they have separated a little. When I actually used them however they came out smoothly and well mixed.

First up is Berry Good Looking. This is what reeally made me want to try Cupcake Polish. I've seen a whole bunch of pictures of it on Instagram and it is just such a stunning and vibrant shade. I struggled to photograph the magical holo flare, but you can see below how bright and lovely the colour is. The polish was reasonably thick and a one coater. I wore it for four days with no chipping (even with no top coat). there was some slight rubbing away at the ends of my nails, but that does happen to me relatively often, and I was using my hands quite a lot as I was travelling and carrying suitcases etc. Removed nice and easy considering it's a holo, though this may have been helped by no top coat.

Next I tried Copa Girls, which I fell totally in love with! I had this on for nearly a week I just did not want to take it off! It lasted impressively well with no chipping or rubbing, despite having no top coat. I initially wanted to get Bluebell Girls, which is from the same collection (Vegas Showgirls Collection) but Rainbow Connection ran out and I was desperate to make my order before they ran out of something else I wanted! I chose this one and it did not disappoint (I am however dying for Bluebell Girls and Jubilee from the collection).

Anyway, back to the polish! This was a lovely consistency to paint with and was nearly a one coater, probably could be if applied thickly. I used two coats with no top coat.It was very lightly textured thought not as textured as I expected. It has a lovely combination of glitters, some holo, tiny silver glitter and little silver flakies. I would highly recommend this polish and will be purchasing more from the same collection.
So in conclusion, despite all my raving about Copa Girls, I honestly don't think I could choose a favourite of these two. They're both lovely. I love how well Berry Good Looking stood out against dark clothes, and how well they both seemed to go with things. Until next time!
