Monthly Indie Review: Painted Polish

Hello nailaholics! This months Indie polish review is SUPER SPAKLY and holographic and I love it! So you don't need to read on to see if I liked them... I first spotted Painted Polish by Lexi on Instagram a year or so ago and fell in love with some of their gorgeous glitters. Unfortunately the postage to get is across from America wouldn't have been justifiable, so when Rainbow Connection launched it as a new brand I was so excited, especially when I noticed they had the shades I was after all that time ago.

So, onto the good stuff! The first polish I tried was Crunk On Copper an extremely holographic copper glitter. In the pictures it looks slightly lighter than it did in real life, and I don't think they really do it justice, but it's hard to capture something so sparkly. The glitter is in a clear base, I would say it takes about three coats for opacity, but sponging it on gets faster results! It dries textured so if you want it smooth a couple of coats of top coat is required.
The second polish I tried is Lusty Lavender, again the pictures don't do it justice, though I think the pictures are a little more true to life with this one. Just as sparkly as the first! Again this would would take about three glitter heavy coats, but sponging it on is probably the best technique. It's a beautiful unique shade of silvery lilac. Very unicorn-ish!
So in conclusion, I LOVE these! They are just so intensely holographic and sparkly. I've found them even better than the Fun Lacquer Simply Nailogical holo's I reviewed last month. I would seriously seriously recommend them! I think Crunk on Copper is my favourite, but it's a tough choice, I love them both! Nail art to follow with both colours.

Monthly Indie Review: Fun Lacquer

Hi everyone! Today I have a monthly indie review I've been waiting to do for a long time - Fun Lacquer. When the Simply Nailogical collaboration came out I just couldn't resist giving it a go! The collection featuires three shades, each one in a holo glitter, and a holo glitter with extra holo particles. I thought the extra holo ones looked a bit more silvery so went with the normal holo glitter in Black Holo Witch and How Deep Is Your Holo. They are both intensely glittery glitter, in a clear base.

First up is How Deep Is Your Holo, a super glittery cobalt blue. I have seen a lot of video's of this suggesting that you need to sponge it on. It's definitely a good technique for this type of glitter, but I managed to get the below look using three coats. It's a gorgeous shade of blue, and in the light its twinkles in lovely blue and green sparkles. As expected it dries with a textured finish, but this can be smoothed out with a top coat.
The second colour I tried is Black Holo Witch, very appropriate for the season! I'd say it's more of a grey than a black, but when those sparkles get going it is sooo lovely and rainbowish! For this one I did sponge on the glitter. This was a quicker process that painting it on layer by layer, but was a little bit of a faff getting it to cover the whole nail! I suppose that will improve with practise.
I enjoyed both of these polishes, and their extreme sparkle! I did find them a little heavy on my nails though, and being a glitter they need a peel off base coat or to be soaked off. I tried soaking the first off and it was still quite tricky to get rid of it all! I am glad to have these in my collection, they are great colours and the boxes are so fun too! (yep, they're holo!) I probably won't buy many more glitters this intense though. I did buy a two tone colour shift polish from Fun Lacquer as well which I can't wait to give a go.

Monthly Indie Reveiw: Cirque Colors

This months indie review is a quick one, as I only have one polish to show you. I went on a bit of a buying spree, and I couldn't justify any more polishes! So I got just this one from Cirque Colors as it was one I'd had my eye on for a little while. From the looks of things Cirque do a range of lovely creme's and bright colours which are well loved.

The shade I chose to try was Hatch from The Awakening spring collection. Shame I have bought it at this time or year really as it would be so perfect for spring! It looks like a little speckled egg, although also a little like toothpaste, or as one of my work colleagues said, a kitchen work surface! I think most of all it has the speckled egg look! I love a pale grey shades enjoyed this creamy speckled polish, I'd say with the speckles it is almost a pale grey.

The consistency was good and it was easy to paint on. It covers in two to three coats. I look forward to trying this with some cobalt blue and or gold, and perhaps some Aztec type patterns.
That's all for now!

Monthly Indie Review: Femme Fatale

So the time has come already for this months indie polish review, summer is going way too fast! This month I have only one polish to review, but a very picture heavy post as it's such an interesting polish! I selected only one polish from this brand as it was part of a bulk order, and I really couldn't justify buying any more! This is my first try of a thermal colour change polish, and I have to say I absolutely loved it. Below are is the polish in heat (pale green) and cold (blue). It's called Jasmine and it's from Femme Fatale.
The consistency was good though fairly sheer. I used three coats to get the above effect. I've included some pictures below showing the colour change effect. It was so much fun trying it all out! When I changed my nail polish I felt quite disappointed that I couldn't see a colour change anymore when I washed my hands! I have already seen another colour change polish by this brand that I have my eye on, the novelty has definitely not worn off yet!
So as you can see this was a good one! The polish quality was good, the colours lovely (particularly the blue); and the novelty of a colour changing polish was great fun. It's good to wear in the summer as I found there was plenty of variation in the different temperatures of different environments, not just cold. I can certainly recommend!

Monthly Indie Review: Picture Polish

Hello everyone, happy Friday! I am extra excited this Friday as I have my first week off of the year (bad planning there!), I'm off to Wales with my boyfriend and his family and I can't wait. I think I will still be blogging as I'm taking my laptop with me. Today I am showing you my first review of a brand I've wanted to try for soooo long! I discovered Picture Polish years ago before I even know indie polish was a thing. But I didn't fancy the expensive postage. Now I know I can get them at Rainbow Connection, yay! :)

Below are the colours I decided to try. I'd seen Lakodom online loads and Instagram for the last year and just had to try this delicate shimmery shade. The second is Ocean. Everything about this colour is my kind of thing! I love blue I love the ocean, I love glitter, and I love the little quote on the bottle.

The first one I tried was Lakodom, it's a little more grey than I expected. I thought it would be an off white. Still, I have a bit of a thing for grey polish so it's fine by me! It was easy to use and painted on well, but I did find it very thin. I ended up using four coats rather than my usual two! Still as you can see in the fourth picture my nail line was visible in bright light! Overall not as impressed with this one as would have hoped, but I do still like it.

Next up is Ocean, and oh my goodness where do I start! This colour is absolutely stunning, I just kept looking at my hands! The glitter is a mixture of holo and tiny flakies that combine to create a beautiful shade the glitters in all lights, catching the light especially in the sun. It is flattering, and I imagine it would be for all skin tones, and paints on well. I used two coats for the pictures below.
Overall I am pleased with these nail polishes. The Ocean one is a firm favourite! I really like the bottle design as well. I like the shape and how they have the quotes/phrases on the bottle, and the name in bold. It's  bit different to what I usually see. Thanks for reading!

Monthly Indie Review: Emily de Molly

This months indie polish review is a little smaller than usual (I ordered it as part of a bulk buy, and just couldn't justify one more polish!). I'll go ahead and say straight away though that this nail polish totally deserves a whole blog post to itself!

Today I am reviewing Turbulence from Emily de Molly. I saw it on Etsy a while back, but didn't fancy the postage which was about as much as the nail polish itself! So when I saw it on Rainbow Connection I jumped at the chance!

It's a blue jelly polish, filled with an assortment of different glitter shapes. There is a fine blue glitter in there, with some larger blue glitters and diamonds, and a few multi coloured medium sized glitters.
Here you can see it in different lighting, it really seemed to maintain it's extreme shine and sparkle in all light. even in the office! The pictures don't quite to it justice. I ended up having this on for a week as I just couldn't bring myself to take it off, and I've lost count of the number of compliments I got! I was even told my a beautician at a spa I went to that it looked like professional gels. It is a truly beautiful nail polish.

It's probably worth mentioning why Dance Legends peel of glitter base is in the picture at the top. I thought it would be worth using as it can be so hard to remove chunky glitter from nails. It held amazingly well for a week, but was pretty hard to get rid of and seemed to damage the top layer of my nails. Might just stick to soaking it off next time!

Monthly Indie Review: Native War Paints

Happy Saturday everyone! Today is my most long awaited indie polish review ever! I ordered these soo long ago, it took well over a month for them to arrive (not the sellers fault - I think it's because it came from so far away). By the time they did arrive I already had an indie review lined up for that month, so they got pushed back to now. Not quite the seasons colours anymore, but never mind, anything goes!

I saw these first on Instagram, they are the Walking Hearthrobs collection, based on the walking dead. I don't actually watch the walking dead, but the nail polishes caught my eye! I particularly loved how well they go together as a gradient, so just had to give it a go. Below are (in order) Shot by Cupids Crossbow, Officer Handsome, and I'm Dating A Daredevil. It's hard to choose a favourite, but contrary to my normal preference of blues, greens and purples, I think I might like I'm Dating A Daredevil best. Better still though is the gradient, they go so well together!

Some shots below of the polishes in sunlight so you can see them in their holographic glory! Couldn't capture I'm Dating A Daredevil quite as well as the other unfortunately. I will 100% be wearing these as a gradient again, they're so bright and fun, the colours kind of remind me of kids parties in the 90's when I was small!
So would I buy more from the same brand? Sadly the answer is no, because it took such a long time to arrive, and I was contacting the seller beginning to wonder if they would arrive at all, don't want to go through that palava again! To be honest I don't think I'll order direct from the US again, no ones fault I think it's just too much hassle. Will stick to buying my US polishes from Rainbow Connection. However, I certainly don't regret getting these ones, I love them now that they are here!

Thanks for reading, let me know what you think :)
