Peachy Nails Take Two

Hi everyone! Another late Glam Nails Challenge prompt today, this one is peaches. I had a lovely weekend with my sister visiting so didn't have time to do my nails or blog. it was a great weekend though so I'm happy to be catching up today! For this theme I decided to recreate some peach nails I did in the past with my Nails Inc Kiss My Peach duo. I'm not so good at freehand so it's good to practise and see if I've improved.

I started with a base of pale peach on all nails, and used brighter peach to create a gradient on my index finger, little finger and thumb. On my middle two nails I used the bright peach to add some peach shapes, I created sort of vague heart shapes as this helped me work towards something and stop them being to blobby! I then added some little green leaves using the same brush. Overall I do think they've come out better than my previous ones. I'd like to see what the peaches are like with black outlines but I didn't want to risk messing it up!

Stars and Stars!

Hello everyone, hope you are having a good weekend :) Today I am sharing with you my first try of Nails Inc's Seeing Stars duo. I have had this one sitting around for a little while and finally wore it for an evening out at a law society dinner with my friend who works in law. I wanted something a special but fairly simple that would work with my dress (it was fitted, long and dark green with a bit of sparkle and sleeveless on one side).

The first polish in this duo is Get Discovered, a sheer pale pink which works well for the negative space trend that's big at the moment. I do like to have a bit of colour like this when doing a negative space type look as my nails are a bit yellow as they never get a break from all the nail polish! I used three layers of this to give it a bit more opacity but still keep it clear enough that you can see my nails underneath. I filed them down beforehand as I'm not sure that sort of look suits me much with more white space.

The second polish is Lost In Luna, which is a clear polish filled with little shiny gold stars. The stars are so cute but as expected they can catch a little on clothes, especially if you have quite curved nails like me, I struggled to get them to lie flat. In my case my previous nail art was sharp and a tad dangerous so this wasn't bad in comparison! It can be a little fiddly getting the stars out of the bottle, and then where you want them on your nails, but I really like the final look, and would definitely enjoy recreating this look in the future.

Nails Inc Blame It On The Rainbow

Hello world! Just a quick blog post today in the form of a review of one of the Nails Inc duo's. I'd been considering this for a while but I'm not much of a pink person, but then I found it in TK Maxx so it was clearly meant to be! I normally wear nail art and decided to try this during the week between a couple of other designs, and ended up keeping it on longer than expected as it was so lovely.

What's Poppin' is a lovely bright yet warm pink with a hint of lilac. I don't usually go for pink but I was so pleased with how this looked. The shade is flattering and so glossy. I was also really please with the consistency and the brush was a great shape making it easy to use. I used two coats as I could just about see some nail line when I held my nails up to the light with one coat, but this could definitely work as a one coater.

Rainbow Sprinkles is exactly what it says on the tin! A mixture of different coloured glitter particles in a clear base. It's super sparkly and fun! The glitter is fairly densely packed so I built this up with a few coats rather than sponging it on. I did use a sheer pink base as I knew my nail would show a little underneath, however I think the glitter distracted my eyes away from that anyway!

So as you can see - a clear winner! I would definitely recommend this duo.

Just Peachy Nail Art with Nails Inc

Hi nail people! I hope you are enjoying some sunshine! Got some summery nails to show you today, using the Nails Inc Kiss My Peach duo which I bought from someone in a Facebook group, after having had my eye on it for a while. I was very taken with it arriving in a velvety peach fuzz box!! Though I must admit it makes it slightly harder to open and close.

I wanted to do some nail art that was mostly using the two colours in the box, Peach Tease and Hot Fuzz. I started with a base of Peach Tease, and on the ring, thumb and little finger nails I created a gradient adding Hot Fuzz with a sponge. For the middle two fingernails I used a large dotting tool to create the peaches, and then a nail art brush to add a couple of green leaves to each. I then drew some lines in the middle of each peach to try and give them a bit of shape. Worked better on some than others, freehand is not my strong point, but I was pretty happy with it.

One thing I must mention about these polishes is that they are scented. When I initially tried them on my Uber Mat I couldn't really smell them, but once I wore this nail art it really came though! I was really impressed with how long it lasted and it reminded my of holidays when I was a kid. The top coat muffled it a bit but as that wore away a bit at the top the smell came back again a few days later! Love it!

Nails Inc Self Made Mermaid Duo

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a good weekend. I'm having a quiet evening in so far but will see what happens. Today I've been trying out Nails Inc's new nail polish duo, the 'Self Made Mermaid' duo. This is the fourth duo they have done, following the very successful unicorn duo they released last year. I've managed to resist their space themed and champagne themed duo's (which both look lovely), but this one was too me to ignore!

First up is Ocean Ever After, and I am so pleased I managed to get decent pictures with my left hand! This is a metallic blue with a tiny bit of gold running through for the extra metallic shimmer. There's also a hint of green in the bottle but that didn't really transfer to my nails. The formula is good and I love Nails Inc's brushes. It does look a slightly deeper/brighter blue in the Instagram pictures, so I might try it over some dark grey or something to see if I can get that effect. That said it is also lovely as it is. This one is perfect in 2-3 coats (I've used three here).
Next is Mermaid Parade, a pearlescent pastel blue. This has a hint of purple-ish shimmer running through it as well but it's only visible in certain lights. The formula is also good in this one, though is is not as opaque as Ocean Ever After. I used 3 coats in my swatches but I'd say you'd need 4-5 for full opacity, that or try it out over some other base colours. It is a stronger more opaque colour than the recent Barry M sea themed shades (review a few blog posts back).

So my favourite is Ocean Ever After, as I expected, as it's just more my sort of thing. I love a good blue, especially when it's shiny! They are both lovely polishes though and I love the packaging. I can't resist keeping them in it as it makes them look special and more expensive, even though these are cheaper than normal Nails Inc polishes (it's £15 for the two). Looking forward to seeing which duo they bring out next, and if I can resist it!
